Smart Snacking for Athletes
A good nutrition plan for an athlete encompasses four meals PLUS two to three snacks per day to ensure proper fueling and energy levels are met. If you’re going more than three hours between meals, try to grab a small snack to maintain good energy levels. Eating frequently throughout the day is the best way to keep your metabolism in check as well as prevent muscle from being burned/lost. Try to eat one meal right before bed that is high in protein, but low in carbs and fat.
STA Football Drinking, Drug, and Tobacco Use Policy
In the STA football program we have a very firm policy about the use of alcohol, drugs, or tobacco. The players sign a form from the high school league promising that they will not use alcohol, drugs, or tobacco while participating in athletics. They make a promise to their teammates, coaches, and school to not do this. If a player violates this promise at any time after he signs up for football in the spring to the end of the season, we are going to hold him to that promise. He will not be able to participate in any more games that season. He will not be kicked off the team, he will be allowed to practice with the team after he serves his school mandated punishment, but he will not play in any games for the rest of that season.
